Cayden McBryde, Commended by Polk County Police
On June 16, 2026, Junk N' Your Trunk owner Cayden McBryde stopped for gas and walked into an armed robbery. He didn't leave. Three weeks later, Polk County Police Chief Kiki Evans handed him and his friend Mason Allen Letters of Commendation for what they did next.
What Happened
Cayden had just finished a job and pulled into a Polk County gas station to fuel up his Junk N' Your Trunk work truck. He walked in not realizing a robbery was in progress. He had a choice: leave, or help. He went back to the truck, told his friend Mason Allen what was going on, and the two grabbed a rake and a shovel, the same tools he had been using on the job that were still sitting in the truck bed. While Mason called police, they wedged the shovel through the door handles to hold the suspect inside until officers could arrive. When the suspect finally forced his way out, he dropped the cash, his phone, and the weapon, and the two helped stop him as he tried to run. No one at the store was hurt.
